Choosing desirable tree attributes

Up to this point in the evaluation process, trees have been chosen primarily for their ability to grow at the site. This is the most crucial criterion for tree selection at a planting site: not how big they are, not what color foliage or flowers they have, nor any other functional or aesthetic quality. This is all secondary to first determining which trees are adapted to the cultural and physical conditions at the planting site! Within those parameters, it is now time to consider tree function and shape, aesthetics, and other desirable attributes that you would like the trees to have.
