Mallory Buchyn Graduate Program Specialist
Mallory is very excited to be the new graduate program specialist for the Department of Environmental Horticulture. She earned her degree in Science Education with a focus on biology from the University of Central Florida. She spent 8 years as the lead sales associate at a local ground cover nursery, had a brief tenure as an OPS assistant here at Environmental Horticulture, and had been the academic assistant in the Department of History for the past two years. Mallory’s focus is on building relationships with students and helping to provide support throughout their academic and professional careers. When she is not working, Mallory spends her time with her husband and daughter, enjoying Gainesville and the surrounding areas.
Marjorie Shearer Office Assistant
Marjorie is excited to be back in Gainesville after living in the Midwest for ten years. A lifelong Gator fan, she grew up in Longwood, Florida and attended UF, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in clarinet performance. After two years in Illinois, Marjorie moved to Iowa City, where she taught music lessons and worked as the business coordinator for a financial advising firm. While living in Iowa City, Marjorie met her boyfriend, Nik, and convinced him to escape the Midwest winters and move to Florida with her. She is very excited to be back in Gainesville and looks forward to working with the Department of Environmental Horticulture!
